I have not done a great job at organizing a professional space for myself. I do not recommend renovating the space you are actively working out of, that is problematic. A planned window upgrade wreaked havoc on my schedule when I discovered the bottom plate and corner of the building were rotten. My apologies to those clients whose projects have been delayed. Things are going much smoother lately, projects are finally being shipped out and moved along.
I could not find a reasonably priced aluminum clad wooden window from a North American supplier, please send word if you know of one! My former college professor and now friend started working for this company, Vetta, which brings in windows from Europe. The shipping is expensive, but if you can manage to get all your windows on one pallet I think the financials make sense. With one wall upgrade complete, this coming year I plan to renovate the other three and clad the building in metal.
In the 1940s, this building was a carriage house with a hay loft accessible from the outside. At some point, the former owner turned it into a chiropractic clinic many valley residents have visited. I now use the building as my finish and assembly room as well as storage space in the loft. There is a lot of work left to do, but I need to catch up on commitments before I can get back to renovations. My spring is fully booked and I will be careful about summer commitments as I need to keep room in my schedule for finally completing this renovation. If you are interested in products for fall/winter delivery, please contact me as I have committed to purchase another supply of maple lumber from trees right here in Nova Scotia.
